It's still lockdown and most events are online but as it's getting warmer and things will be returning to some sort of normality towards mid summer, the website visitEngland.com may have events that are gradually returning to pre-March 2020 but we still have to be aware of the distance regulations and wearing face masks. Stay safe and well everyone and here's hoping for a nicer summer than last year! March events - visitEngland.com (check the website for events details)

Leafy Greens salads in Spring is not only healthy but light and refreshing (Easy spring greens recipes via olivemagazine.com)

When the weather gets warmer a salad for lunch is light and refreshing and even my grandmother would tell me to drink a hot drink in the warmer weather. I never believed her until I had a cold in the summer and I drank tea instead of a cold drink. It does cool you down faster than a cold drink! Easy spring greens recipes

Don't skip the doctor's visits - health.harvard.edu (an annual visit at least to the doctor's isn't a bad idea

I am that person who hardly go to the doctor as pharmacies have always been the place to get remedies that work. It's not a bad idea to go to the doctor for a general check up every year although surgeries are getting more crowded! Don't skip doctor visits

Apples are a good source of vitamins and minerals

I like the crunchy variety and because I find myself not eating so much when I've eaten apples but I prefer apple pies which has more calories than a raw apple, which fits in your bag or lunch bag easily and is a fruit that stays as fresh in your bag as in a fridge. Apples and Health

Mental awareness of negative thoughts can help us with our own wellbeing (How mental awareness interferes with negative thinking - Elemental.medium.com)

It can be the weather and just going shopping.  If the day is blustery and rainy, with water puddles everywhere and cars spraying everyone with water as they speed by, it can make our day go badly if we feel cross all day.  Mindfulness in moderation can help us to feel that calming our mind and looking at what's angering us can contribute to our wellbeing. Elementa.medium.com explains how mental awareness can interfere with negative thinking: Why Mental Self-Awareness Is Good for Your Brain

I wanted to upload the photo I took in the waiting room after having the Covid vaccine - the Pfizer vaccine which I thought was the Oxford vaccine. After getting the Covid vaccine I waited in the waiting room for over 15 mintues before the nurse says it's fine to leave.  It is recommended to have the flu jab but it should be taken at least one week after or before. The next day my arm was stiff. Many I know have taken the same Covid vaccine and are fine - though some say experiencing a headache is one of the side effects. Stay safe and well everyone! A Spring Poem in January The crocuses

The crocuses My guess is that the Crocus vernus will arrive late this year As Winter is mild, and the frost isn't here yet. Nor the snow dipped into sludge but snow crocuses bloom amid winter warmth. Ornamental crocuses in Flavus Family in vases make a room sunny which spark the rays Through windows in March making #ActionforHappiness a continuing process from the first month until winter returns cold and dark. Now that flicker of April showers with rainbow flowers from yellow to purple will spread happiness everywhere in open fields to welcome in SPRING a true delight. What say my podcast team, Andy N Amanda? (c) nature thoughts nw Kol-Colleen (I now know from many years of writing poetry and doing an English Degree at university that poetry is truly subjective. Poetry magazines also reflect how subjective a panel of judges can be!)

Festive thoughts

Image
At this time of the year we see a change in the scenery from shops doing business as usual without that need to say 'Happy Holidays!' to a smile on Baristas' faces and that voluntary chirpiness we see during the festive period. Everywhere there are brightly lit streets with sparkling lights decorating street light poles and suddenly almost everyone is thinking of festive foods and gifts. Come March 2019, will we be able to travel across Europe to see all the various ways of celebrating Easter and Christmas? Will there be changes to how we look at these traditional celebrations? Yet we have to decide whether to put some effort in celebrating the festive season or not. This reminds me of the mother I overheard on the public transport telling her very young daughter to read a poem.  It's a nice gesture but as with cultural celebrations, we have to decide for our own selves whether we want to read a poem and then write one ourselves or not.  ...

Nurses are extraordinary - a vocation and a Calling

There's nothing 'ordinary' about any nurse. https://t.co/E7ikJ3lKiJ — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) 28 May 2018 Nurses are extraordinary. Working long hours in dire conditions, not obligatory. Always considering others endlessly. #APoemADay https://t.co/4Rsm98Oe08 — A Naturespath (@a_naturespath) 31 May 2018

Revealed - the Meaning of Life Albert Einstein's Surprising Thoughts on the Meaning of Life Monty Python's The Meaning of Life 42: The Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything “Things don't have purposes, as if the universe were a machine, where every part has a useful function. What's the function of a galaxy? I don't know if our life has a purpose and I don't see that it matters. What does matter is that we're a part. Like a thread in a cloth or a grass-blade in a field. It is and we are. What we do is like wind blowing on the grass.” ― Ursula K. Le Guin , The Lathe of Heaven via:  Goodreads.com

(c) nature thoughts nw #excellent poem! In the #summer birds are garrulous. They flit from tree to tree, like tiny specks of pollen. Chattering as the heat heightens. Murmuring of the flight to warmer degrees. Haltering only to sip drops from a warm April shower. https://t.co/WvP3Ll1oCr — A Naturespath (@a_naturespath) 21 April 2018

Leafy April

Image
(c) nature thoughts nw Leafy April 4 seasons, Spring is one of them, 1st one to get a shout out. April in Spring but March takes  first mention.  2nd part of Spring, April showers, any time of the month.  Spraying flowers with raindrops without cessation. Zero mention of Winter frost during April showers. Summer flowers adorn fields  in our fixated imagination. Why think of Spring flowers when rain pours over concrete? By pass the soaking raincoats and umbrellas in torrential downpours  that fall in gradation. (c) nature thoughts nw

(c) coach4u.net Riverlets The fresh summer's cool, brushed breeze, carries with it rivulets in the gush, that soon trickles, easily, in the clear water, that gurgles, then gushes as the rocks waver in the rush brushing the fresh water strings of micro sword, anubius nana, ensconced in a cluster of hornworts, and cryptocorynes and moss. The brook gushes as would a blushing novice. (c) nature thoughts nw

Summer's beginnings

(c) nature thoughts nw Summer's beginnings With some water in hand, the sun shines on blooms, summery and bright, they stand, as I drink my thirst away, relieved, grateful and with a sandwich in hand. I stand by the purple and wine patterns in nature, A drink to summer's blossoms! to welcome in summer's sunshine, close by, they stand, Outstanding shades, grown for summer, to be ready then, when we can all stare as we stand close up.
