Warm water and lemon or lime to start the day helps us feel good throughout the day

I usually drink warm water and lemon or lime when I have a cold but over the years I prefer using lime. The other week, ginger was suggested and now I will try to add ginger which I would if I had a bad cold. An article I just saw says a 10 minute exercise is a good way of helping you to feel happy. I agree with that suggestion but to add, it helps to feel refreshed and rearing to tackle the day ahead! Why some people can deal with the cold (via bbc.com)

Join a local nature conservation group and arrange to pick up litter (Pick up litter on the street - via uncustomary.org)

Keeping our neighbourhood clean and in line with our beliefs about the environment is a nice way to give back to the community this Spring especially after the first lockdown which began last March. Pie and mash with mushy peas, is one of my favourite lunches and a school friend took me to a traditional Pie and Mash shop which is still there today! Leafy Greens salads in Spring is not only healthy but light and refreshing (Easy spring greens recipes via olivemagazine.com)

When the weather gets warmer a salad for lunch is light and refreshing and even my grandmother would tell me to drink a hot drink in the warmer weather. I never believed her until I had a cold in the summer and I drank tea instead of a cold drink. It does cool you down faster than a cold drink! Easy spring greens recipes

Don't skip the doctor's visits - health.harvard.edu (an annual visit at least to the doctor's isn't a bad idea

I am that person who hardly go to the doctor as pharmacies have always been the place to get remedies that work. It's not a bad idea to go to the doctor for a general check up every year although surgeries are getting more crowded! Don't skip doctor visits

Reading food labels and understanding what is in our food is helpful but not vital (Do I need to read food labels? bhf.org.uk)

I know a few like the E food codes - yet I have not had any reaction to food I've eaten in the past and now so although it is useful to know what's in our food, it's not vital unless we have a reaction to certain foods and those with gluten. Out of interest I tried the gluten free shop brand digestive biscuits and they are just as nice as normal digestive biscuits. Do I need to read food labels?

Apples are a good source of vitamins and minerals

I like the crunchy variety and because I find myself not eating so much when I've eaten apples but I prefer apple pies which has more calories than a raw apple, which fits in your bag or lunch bag easily and is a fruit that stays as fresh in your bag as in a fridge. Apples and Health

It can be the weather and just going shopping.  If the day is blustery and rainy, with water puddles everywhere and cars spraying everyone with water as they speed by, it can make our day go badly if we feel cross all day.  Mindfulness in moderation can help us to feel that calming our mind and looking at what's angering us can contribute to our wellbeing.
