Windrush 2021 The place we came from

The island that I know has memories  on the beach, in the imprint of steps taken one at a time. Finding a voice in poetic stance Trodding over branches that fell onto white, sunkissed sand, warm like the turn of Autumn to Spring.  I walked over these paths many times, reminiscing of days lying there, looking up into clarity. The sky responds with a bright, arched grin. The hues of blue laughing. Mindful that lunchtime approaches, a sip of iced coolsicle, crushed ice water dripping down the glass, onto the sandy beach. Smiling, my skin is scorched red and I forget the sun lotion.   Now stinging, my skin feels sore. I now it is time to go into the sea and feel reassured that summer is always around the corner. Fruits like pears are in season in February

Eating fruits and vegetables that are in season can be cheaper than buying those that are exported and pears are about 57 kcal or 57 calories consumed.

A Spring Poem in January The crocuses

The crocuses My guess is that the Crocus vernus will arrive late this year As Winter is mild, and the frost isn't here yet. Nor the snow dipped into sludge but snow crocuses bloom amid winter warmth. Ornamental crocuses in Flavus Family in vases make a room sunny which spark the rays Through windows in March making #ActionforHappiness a continuing process from the first month until winter returns cold and dark. Now that flicker of April showers with rainbow flowers from yellow to purple will spread happiness everywhere in open fields to welcome in SPRING a true delight. What say my podcast team, Andy N Amanda? (c) nature thoughts nw Kol-Colleen (I now know from many years of writing poetry and doing an English Degree at university that poetry is truly subjective. Poetry magazines also reflect how subjective a panel of judges can be!)

May Day Dance poem

Photo credit: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-dilwyn-village-show-herefordshire-uk-girls-maypole-dancing-in-england-36457083.html May Day Dance Dance, dance away the morning, dance to free the dancer within, urging periodically, for a waltz.  Solo.  One, two, one, two, in step, not forward, side Steps aligned with the Maypole.  Announcing Summer.  Morris dancing, Mavis, Boris, Horace, Horatio, Gather. Dance until the day draws to a close. Out dance the dancer whose feet swiftly pass. White. Drapes of red and blue.  Green is in Spring. Dance. The Green Man appears or not but the  May Queen is here. Dance then wherever you may perchance Be in traditional Cromwellian gown.  As pure  as the gushing Spring mountain water that holds off now that April heralds in the garlands of galium odoratum. Dance to the sounds of swifts quietened by preoccupation. Brooding. As the Dance continues ...

Nature framed

Image
(c) nature thoughts nw The clock was right at 10. It didn't falter at 11. It went steadily onwards past midnight 'til it got to 7. The frame stayed in place on the wall. Within poised plants unperplexed, positioned paced, assuming and at peace. Taking centre space, both frame and plants make the time go at a steady pace past nine towards the morning dawn, in time                                  for breakfast. (c) nature thoughts nw

A Winter's Day

Image
             (c) nature thoughts nw I'm in Spring in January. Warm greens and flowers in the frost of mid winter,  reminds me of a cool climate that changes suddenly. Doesn't change to a day in Spring. The cool wind snaps like a branch on a cold day, icicles cascade over frozen puddles crunching beneath gripped soles. The sun shines as it does in Spring. The wind is present in the sharp Wintery air gliding through layers of clothing and sends cold signals throughout my entire being. (c) nature thoughts nw

(c) coach4u.net Riverlets The fresh summer's cool, brushed breeze, carries with it rivulets in the gush, that soon trickles, easily, in the clear water, that gurgles, then gushes as the rocks waver in the rush brushing the fresh water strings of micro sword, anubius nana, ensconced in a cluster of hornworts, and cryptocorynes and moss. The brook gushes as would a blushing novice. (c) nature thoughts nw

Summer changes

Image
(c) nature thoughts nw Summer Changes My mind wonders over the leaves in directions the wind blows, in one direction then the opposite, flushing sharp points across the way, my mind wonders this way and that.  Never stopping for a moment's breath never, no, forever wondering this way and that. My mind ponders over the way  the leaves gather, still.  Until the wind brushes them into any direction, this and that, no way there but everywhere here.  My mind wonders, it ponders well.  Deep into my inner mind, Until I understand the nature of summer,  a nature I know is warm as the weather, when it wants to be humid and pollinated, as the bees and wind that scatter  the seeds of life giving flowers. Summer's beginnings

Image
(c) nature thoughts nw Summer's beginnings With some water in hand, the sun shines on blooms, summery and bright, they stand, as I drink my thirst away, relieved, grateful and with a sandwich in hand. I stand by the purple and wine patterns in nature, A drink to summer's blossoms! to welcome in summer's sunshine, close by, they stand, Outstanding shades, grown for summer, to be ready then, when we can all stare as we stand close up. Spring is...

Image
 (c) nature thoughts NW Spring is... Spring, nature and beauty, seen in natural light, is stunning, frivolous at times. Sombre at night. Spring, the nature of wonder, when seen from a perspective, is reflective of times calm, ponderous and introspective. Spring, a natural seasonal phenomena, seen from all aspects, is indicative of my wonder, sonorous and this my thoughts reflect. (c) nature thoughts NW

Centennial Ode to the National Parks

A red travels along the Going-to-the-Sun Road as part of the FDR commemorative trip in Glacier National Park.  Photo: Glacier NPS Flickr/Jacob W. Frank (https://glaciermt.com/blog/happy-100-years-national-park-service) Centennial Ode to the National Parks The drive pass the mountain peaks at Glacier are steadfast foundations even in the August heat that stands upright - grand and palatial; giving my heart, that awesome; Reverential thudding beat. How can this be a hundred years that have graced our land? When our forefathers walked peacefully through the rugged territory, With many a Tale told for future generations to understand, To marvel at and pass down to their families. The rocks and stones in the lakes have seen many go by, along the banks, that are trodden on for centuries past; holding back tales that would make a grown man cry – of sorrows of a homeland that are now museum artefact plates encast. Human failings...

Picnic not made in China

Image
(c) Traveler On the Backroads with Christa Pike Kofford Picnic not made in China Tomatoes, salad, sausage rolls, on a plate made in China near cubed sandwiches with salmon paté packed with beef and horse radish, in containers from that mainland where most household items are made, spread across the wooden table, made somewhere nearby. I can see it in the style of the wood, and the quaint wooden seats. The rustic look, found in many a rural District in European countries. But this is an American experience so the table and setting are slightly different. The meat, sandwiches and salads almost the same. Spread neatly across a wooden table, With lager, freshly squeezed juices of oranges and cranberry.  Bags of ice from Publix if you're in the area.  Never knew why it's called that. Near puberty. Near adulthood and garden fetes than a park lunch. Not made in China.  The quality as good.  The food outstanding. Who can resist a noodle salad ...
