A Spring Poem in January The crocuses

The crocuses My guess is that the Crocus vernus will arrive late this year As Winter is mild, and the frost isn't here yet. Nor the snow dipped into sludge but snow crocuses bloom amid winter warmth. Ornamental crocuses in Flavus Family in vases make a room sunny which spark the rays Through windows in March making #ActionforHappiness a continuing process from the first month until winter returns cold and dark. Now that flicker of April showers with rainbow flowers from yellow to purple will spread happiness everywhere in open fields to welcome in SPRING a true delight. What say my podcast team, Andy N Amanda? (c) nature thoughts nw Kol-Colleen (I now know from many years of writing poetry and doing an English Degree at university that poetry is truly subjective. Poetry magazines also reflect how subjective a panel of judges can be!)

Nature’s warning signs that disaster is about to strike - science101.com

Image
Via  science101.com (Article by Sydney Baum-Haines) "Going out in nature is refreshing and relaxing, but there’s always danger lurking around the corner. You may have street smarts, but lack wild-smarts. So instead of getting struck by lightning or drowning in a rip current, learn about the different ways nature warns you away from disaster and imminent natural disaster. Plus, sometimes you just can’t check the weather forecast and want to know if it’ll rain tomorrow." A plant dedicated to a legend

Image
In memory of a war veteran 'Tis a plant that will see the Spring soon to be remembering the war that shaped Britain as a country  and her veterans who all made history especially  remembered  in the winter of November. Now January  and legends forever. A legendary conversation and a coffee with memories made every smile  genuine,  forgetting imaginary  forgeries. Time to think of planting timeless hedges. Never forgotten. Always legendary, present.  Now, as the season changes. The legend lives on. (c) Nature Thoughts nw

Our cultural thinking

Image
I hadn't realised until the other day how most think England is their home which is surprising as I never saw anything in my experience in England or Paris to feel this is the case. I guess because of the general characteristics of the British culture which is to not say anything, nothing was thought of about the importance of keeping cultural traditions and 'keeping within' certain restraints. Yet in every other way, the message is loud and clear 'you have your culture, we have ours.' Come March 2019, it will be made obvious that we all have to think very closely about our cultural heritage because of the economic situation. 'You have your reasons and your cultural heritage.  We have ours.' #nature #lifestyle #culture

A Cleaner City makes shopping a nicer experience

Image
Yesterday I read a post on our Guides community forum about how #Google local guides are making the world a better place and the campaigns some guides have started, like, schooling etc. Being a Nature conservationist, I started my first post on the forum yesterday on my interest in seeing #natureinthecity and a #cleanercity which I emailed the Mayor's office about 4 - 5 months ago when I did a survey on #cleanerair in the city. https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Cleaner-and-a-more-natural-City/td-p/1114217#.W9GLJzisk80.link Many many Congrats to the #LondonMayor and his office in the noticeable changes in London with more parks being better maintained and in the streets looking cleaner and more environmentally conscious. #cleanercity #natureinthecity

#30DaysWild - London Wildlife Trust - Day 12

Image
https://twitter.com/a_naturespath/status/1006445692469080064?s=19 I've never really subscribed to a gym as it doesn't compare to exercising in the open air. Besides the cost,  the view is nicer and exercising when it's raining a little is an experience never to be forgotten.

At around 12 mid-day, as if propelled by an invisible hand, she’d turn to face the sun, as it scorched the lavender buds in the tiny city garden that has been her home since a juvenile.  She stops nibbling on the apple tree bark and almost stands tall with her tiny front paw to her chest – to greet a plane flying high above altitude towards the Atlantic Ocean, where some of her ancestry roots originated.  Her distant relatives were also from Eurasia and Africa yet as far...
